Enterprise Phase
Making it happen. Planning to make the solution sustainable
ENTERPRISE is about making something happen. In the ENTERPRISE stage we'll be planning how to ensure that the solutions we came up with can be supported by the school in a way that can be sustained. There's no point in coming up with a great concept unless it becomes real.
ENTERPRISE is also about building capacity and handing over knowledge to people in order to implement new solutions. If we can get some of the solutions up and running before the OurNewSchool project comes to an end then we'll have a chance to try things out over a longer period of time. This way we'll learn even more about how well it works and can get people to adapt new roles or take on new responsibilities. Often when you invent a new way of doing something you need to tweak things a little for a while - like tuning a car engine until it runs smoothly.
ENTERPRISE can be tricky. Sometimes, even a great idea can't happen. It might be that the timing isn't right or there are other things going on that means there's a clash of resources or people. Some great ideas are just ahead of their time. If this happens it's worth remembering how much has been learnt along the way - including what we'll have learnt from following the design process. All this can be used again to tackle other design challenges, to come up with new solutions and try and make them happen in the future.
Things that we'll have at the end of this phase:
A detailed plan - or blueprint - that shows how the new solution will work.
A group of people who are prepared to give it a go. These may include people from outside of school.
Resources (not always money) to make changes or buy the things that are needed.
Instructions - which could be drawings - to show people what they have to do.
A plan to come back togther after a period of time to discuss how it's going and to plan any tweaks that migh be needed.
